BAMBOO

Addresses key barriers to scaling floating offshore solar systems, accelerating their commercialization and sustainability

BAMBOO (Build scAled Modular Bamboo-inspired Offshore sOlar systems) is a project funded by the Horizon Europe program that addresses the main challenges in the sustainable and large-scale deployment of floating photovoltaic systems at sea, while also designing their integration into offshore wind farms in the North Sea. The project evaluates the energy performance of these systems, material circularity, environmental impact, and conducts a comprehensive life cycle analysis, including the end-of-life phase.

BAMBOO aims to accelerate the market entry of marine photovoltaic systems in a sustainable manner, contributing to a significant reduction in emissions and generating a net positive impact on marine ecosystems. Within the consortium, the Aquatera team will lead the technical and environmental assessments, bringing their expertise to ensure that the energy solutions are both respectful and efficient.
