Blockchain Platform to improve port waste management.
PORTWASTE III aims to implement digital passports that certify the route of waste in the port area and its reintroduction into the market as raw materials. Aquatera Atlántico is leading the incorporation of the MARPOL V environmental waste footprint into the CO2 calculation tool developed in PORTWASTE II. The calculation will be made following the European Commission’s recommendation 2021/2279 on the use of environmental footprint methods to measure and communicate the environmental performance of products throughout their life cycle and will pay particular attention to the logistics and transport of waste in port areas.
